Sphinx |
|
|
He sees the sphinx about once every week.
She can be found in New York far from Thebes.
He has gotten to know her, wild and meek,
As he struggles with the riddle she keeps.
Though her physical form is a goddess,
Her allurement is for the mind to see.
Brilliance shines from emerald eyes;
Her tongue sends visions of Calliope.
Her mystery holds him in suspense; through
Peeling back the layers brings him to truth.
Yet knowing the truth is not enough,
Knowing the sphinx is the yearn of the sleuth.
She searches the world and is resolved
Desiring that her riddle be solved.
